ZEISS SMILE® pro is an upgraded technology of ZEISS ReLEx SMILE and it is the latest laser vision correction surgery designed to treat myopia and astigmatism. With the ZEISS VISUMAX 800, ZEISS SMILE® pro allows you the freedom to get back to doing what you love, in a shorter period of time.

It is a bladeless, minimally invasive and flapless procedure which leads to a shorter recovery time.

How does ZEISS SMILE® pro work?

  • In less than 10 seconds for each eye, a low energy laser creates a tiny piece of refractive lenticule and an opening as small as 2mm on the cornea surface.
  • The eye surgeon then removes the lenticule through the small opening.
  • Removing the refractive lenticule changes the shape of the cornea and the way light bends into the eye, and this corrects the refractive errors.

Typically, the patient has a functional vision the following day, which improves and stabilises overtime. There is minimal downtime after ZEISS SMILE® pro procedure.

How is ZEISS SMILE® pro different from other refractive surgery options?

ZEISS SMILE® pro Procedure Steps

5. Flap is repositioned. Refractive error is corrected

Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) Procedure Steps

Advanced Surface Ablation

1. Cool fluid is applied to the cornea

Advanced Surface Ablation

2. Surface layer of corneal tissue is removed

Removal of the Lenticule

3. Preparing to remove the very outer layer of corneal cells

Advanced Surface Ablation

Benefits of ZEISS SMILE® pro

  1. Shorter Surgery Procedure
The biggest key benefit for patients with ZEISS SMILE® pro is spending less time in surgery. In the previous ZEISS ReLEx SMILE procedure, the lenticule is formed in less than 30 seconds per eye, while in new ZEISS SMILE® pro technology, the time needed is only 10 seconds per eye.
  2. Shorter recovery time
A small opening (2–4mm) allows for a shorter healing time, allowing you to get back to your daily activities quickly.
  3. Gentle
Bladeless & minimally invasive, resulting in a much more comfortable experience for patients. Trusted by more than 8 million patients worldwide.
  4. Lesser Dry Eyes
Since the majority of the upper corneal structure is preserved during the treatment, there is less risk of post-operative discomfort.
